Control & Risk in Time:

Control is a man-made illusion. When we look at how life changes, our levels and perception of the amount of control we must get challenged and we normally get scared and insecure or go into fight mode. But I found that I am equally as vulnerable in the light than I am in the dark.
If you understand the laws of money and investing, you will know risk calculations has variables over time not necessarily concerning only the amount of money invested. Thus, the risk gets measured over time. The chances of a taxi running me over in the next five minutes are slim, but for a taxi to run me over, over a few years the risk is much bigger. Our illusion of control can also be measured over time. I have control over certain things now but those same things I may not necessarily have control over in a few years’ time. The only control I will always have is for myself and my reactions.
The Bible tells us that God is in control. It was this control that the serpent deceived Eve into pursuing. But thanks to Jesus dying on the cross to set us free and reconcile us to God we have the chance to inherit God’s control. God gives us our control back through the Holy Spirit. Maturity shows us how much control we are tapping into. There is many grown children or overextended adults in life. The perfectionist often is people whose needs for control are out of control. Passive people tend to have given up on having any control, sometimes not even over themselves and this causes lack of motivation.
I want to challenge people to have a balance in your need for control. Which for me implies that everyone has this need. Ask God to give you His control in your situations. Then use mature thinking to utilize the control He gives you. When we are faithful with the little control God gives us He often blesses us with more control. We call this being a faithful Steward of control.
And when life happens, and we realize we don’t really have control over the things we thought we did, be grateful to step down and rest in God. Because He is working everything out for your good. Even when it does not feel like it. Faith is for times like this when you feel like you have no control and are powerless. Pray for insight and train yourself to become knowledgeable in the areas where you need control, or your risks managed. Over time you won’t lose control or take on too big risks.
