I recently visited Hillsong Church Centurion and listened to a sermon by Pastor Phil on building momentum, the sermon was so powerful that I just had to blog about it. Because of my experience dealing with personality types, I could identify which personality type is more able to complete what step in momentum building. It was very interesting to me to see that with DISC personality typing there is one thing per personality type we naturally do well in building momentum.. but the other 3 steps may be things we can work on)

1. Know the direction you want to go in. (This comes easy for S-types because they are very In-tune with the Holy Spirit and intuitive guiding though they may lack the decisiveness to follow through on deciding in what direction they should go) Sounds simple, right? Wrong- in life if you don’t know where you want to go or where you are headed, you will misuse and lose your momentum. The saying goes: if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. Start this step by measuring your past results. Know who you are, what do you value? Where are you spending your money? This is where you are going... this is what you will spend your time and momentum on. This should be where you focus your energy when building momentum

2. Be grateful and full of joy about what you already have (comes naturally to I-types, because they are joyful by nature and want things done the fun way, their positive stems greatly from a place of gratefulness). Gratefulness creates a happy life and big bonus builds your momentum. - the opposite of being grateful is being discontent, thus discontent will steal your momentum and joy.

3. There is life rules and rules to life. (your C-type personality are naturals at following, governing and creating rules and systems, that’s why they are normally the ones to watch in doing things the right way) Rules govern our safety and success. Use principles and policies to safeguard yourself to increase your momentum. Some places you can look for to find principles and policies are in books, stories. While you are busy reading. The book of Proverbs in the Bible is full of life principles. – Without rules we become distracted from where we want to go in life and distraction steals our momentum.

4. The final step is probably the most important. It is to take ACTION. (Your D-Type personalities are naturals at taking action, always on the forefront and always leading people, they love to win that is why they act so quickly, they normally have huge amounts of Faith in their actions) It is to step out with what you believe in. without action there cant be movement or momentum. But some people are afraid to act. The antonym or opposite of fear is faith. So combat a lack of action through your positive belief systems. Fear comes from past pain and destroys hope and dreams or faith.

I hope this will encourage you to build and use the momentum you create to expand yourself and help more people. Thank you Pastor Phil for the great Sermon.
