The Generous Season:

I always love taking about values. We all have core values, lessor values, contradicting values and values we can stack or pin on each other to get a better result in our core value. Our values are so important that it indicates our life purpose.
Recently one of my lessor values kept popping up everywhere. Some will say it’s because of the giving season, that this value is replaying in my subconscious. But I like to believe it is the Holy Spirit guiding me into investigating this value in more depth. This value is the value of Generosity:
Generosity defined: “showing a readiness to give more of something, especially money, than is strictly necessary or expected.”
From this definition I saw that what I feared in this word and what it really means is very different. I don’t think generosity is about money or even about giving things. The word focus in the definition for me is the willingness or readiness to give. I learned that giving money is the quick fix to problems, but not the real way to really help someone. It’s much more generous to give time, emotional support or care to someone. The word generosity to me means to be an instrument of giving.
What is an instrument of giving? You use a piano in certain music styles and drums in others. The type of giving the instrument does depends on what type of instrument it is. Therefore, it’s so important to understand who you are. I can only be sweet music to some people, not to all. This increases our self-worth. We are not meant to always give at random, but to a select group of people that really needs our unique gifts. We can only give what we can offer, we can’t give things we are not capable of or made for.
This festive season, focus on becoming a unique instrument of giving. Practice being generous (willing or ready to give). Tap into your inner compass directing you to where you want to go, but also on who you are going to spend your precious talents and gifts on.
As Always,
Keep Improving
